Gina M. Blevins
Founder and Potter

For over 20 years, my life has revolved around veterinary medicine. However, a little before and during vet school, I discovered a second passion: pottery. A few years ago, while recovering from surgery, I reconnected with ceramics and have since become utterly captivated. The challenge of transforming a simple lump of clay into a beautiful work of art is truly mesmerizing. It's a complex process, demanding patience and precision through shaping, firing, glazing, and the final, nail-biting firing where you can only hope the kiln gods are on your side. The ultimate goal is to create something beautiful, functional, and integrated into someone's daily life.

The name "First Wolf" has a personal connection. It's derived from my family name, Blevins. My ancestors, who hailed from Wales, originally carried a name with several Welsh spellings, all translating to variations of "first wolf" or "wolf cub/son."

At First Wolf Pottery in Haymarket, Virginia, I pour my passion into creating handcrafted pieces that blend artistic expression with everyday practicality. My work reflects my belief that pottery should be both visually appealing and genuinely useful. Each piece is imbued with craftsmanship, care, and the joy of creating something meaningful.
